Job Description

What is the Digital Service Squad ProgramMembers of the Digital Service Squad are digital technology specialists in place for a short term project to deliver one-on-one assistance and support of the program to brick-and-mortar small businesses. The goal of the project is to support those small businesses to be able to take full advantage of digital technologies and e-commerce platforms to increase their revenues and create jobs.Position Description:

  • Meet with business owners to communicate the benefits of the Digital Main Street program and how digital technology can assist them
  • Implement easy-to-use digital tools and technologies for the business, including the development of a website and activating social media accounts
  • Develop user friendly guides and links to assist business owners in the utilization of digital technologies
  • Complete special projects and community-wide initiatives, as required
  • Assist businesses in staying in touch with Digital Main Street through subscription to newsletters and social channels
  • Attend team meetings, record keeping, and tracking of progress
  • Other duties as assigned
RequirementsKnowledge and Experience:
  • Post-Secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications or related program, or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with digital technologies for small businesses, including web, social media and e-commerce
  • Experience in a sales or marketing role is an asset
Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Digital Marketing fundamentals and best practices
  • Working knowledge of website design and social media planning platforms
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, with an ability to build relationships
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable abstract and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Computer expertise in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department specific software to data search and entry and to create and modify word processed documents.
