Position Summary: A Truck Driver is committed to achieving Doidge Building Centres Ltd.’s Service sales and service goals while providing customers with the best shopping experience possible. This is through a commitment to deliver building materials to job sites in a timely manner and assisting customers in the warehouse. While not on the road, the Truck Driver builds orders, loads customers’ vehicles, and maintains the warehouse. This position reports to the Yard Manager.Location: This position is in Southampton, Ontario.Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with our retail, professional and contractor customers
  • Builds loads/orders as required for pick up or delivery in an accurate manner.
  • Maintains equipment to ensure safe operation and appearance utilizing the standards as set out by the company.
  • Ensures that all circle checks, safety checks and MTO regulations are completed.
  • Processes paperwork for shipments.
  • Follows safe work practices, obtains equipment certifications, and uses personal protective equipment whenever necessary.
  • Check merchandise and received quantities against packing slip
  • Move merchandise to appropriate areas using a forklift
  • Opportunities exist for RONA training programs and formal/informal vendor training
  • Performs other job-related duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by inspiring and motivating others through example
  • Exemplary listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible availability based on store needs (includes evenings and weekends)
  • Basic math skills
  • Able to set priorities and deliver results within deadlines
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
  • Physically demandiSng; Use of ladders, climbing and lifting techniques when required. Medium and heavy lifting is a major component of this position
  • Knowledge of the building construction industry; trends, products, application techniques and projects an asset.
  • First aid trained an asset
Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Class DZ (or higher) drivers’ licence
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years commercial driving experience
  • Must have forklift certified training.
  • Must have Boom Training and/or Working with Heights certification where applicable
  • A copy of your MTO drivers’ abstract is required at the time of application
  • A copy of your CVOR abstract is required at the time of application
Job Types: Full-time, Part-timePay: $19.00-$21.00 per hourBenefits:
