Through the actions of the Values We Live By, accountability, communication, leadership, integrity and respect are encouraged, while maintaining a work, play balance.Position Overview:Position OverviewReporting to the Foreman of Parks or designate, employees in this position perform semi-skilled manual workto maintain turf grass, sports fields pathways, trail and parks of the City of Spruce Grove. Instructions arereceived orally from a supervisor or team leader and jobs are checked in progress and upon completion toensure instructions are properly carried out and meet with predetermined standards. Some independence ofactions is expected once employees become familiar with duties. Employees in this position do not superviseother employees.This is a temporary full time position (40 hours per week) with an anticipated end date of March 17, 2023.Responsibilities:In this position you will:

  • Learn safe operation procedures for grass trimmers, mowers, hand tools and equipment while assisting Operators.
  • Perform manual tasks required in parks operations.
  • Safely operate vehicles and self-propelled equipment
Qualifications:Our ideal candidate has:
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license with at least one year of driving experience (driver’s abstract satisfactory to the City of Spruce Grove is required).
  • Physical fitness to perform rigorous daily duties in a range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions and interact in a positive manner with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and alertness in a variety of situations.
  • Knowledge of OHS and WHIMIS regulations.
  • Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
