Through the actions of the Values We Live By, accountability, communication, leadership, integrity and respect are encouraged, while maintaining a work, play balance.Position Overview:The term of this temporary full time position (40 hours per week) is from May 1 to to August 25, 2023.Do you enjoy working outside If so, this summer position may be of interest to you. The City of Spruce Grove is looking for Labourers to maintain the City of Spruce Grove turf, grass, sport fields, pathways, trails and parks.Responsibilities:In this position you will:

  • Learn safe operation procedures for grass trimmers, mowers, hand tools and equipment while assisting Operators.
  • Perform manual tasks required in parks operations.
  • Safely operate vehicles and self-propelled equipment.
Qualifications:Our ideal candidate has:
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license with at least one year of driving experience (driver’s abstract satisfactory to the City of Spruce Grove is required).
  • Physical fitness to perform rigorous daily duties in a range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions and interact in a positive manner with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and alertness in a variety of situations.
  • Knowledge of OHS and WHIMIS regulations.
  • Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
