Through the actions of the Values We Live By, accountability, communication, leadership, integrity and respect are encouraged, while maintaining a work, play balance.Position Overview:This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance tasks required to deliver the prescribed programs and services in the operation of the City of Spruce Grove Eco Centre. The incumbent performs functions at the Eco Centre with a focus on environmental responsibility, safety and customer service. This position reports to the Waste Management Lead.Responsibilities:Operation and Maintenance

  • Greet and educate users of the Eco Centre on the proper use of the services offered at the facility and the traffic circulation in effect.
  • Coordinate the shipping and receiving materials to final disposal and verification of the volumes transported, including the preparation and verification of manifests, waybills and invoices as may be required.
  • Receive inventory and construction of new residential waste carts.
  • Delivery and maintenance of residential waste carts.
  • Collection and replacement of damaged waste carts including the required dismantling of collected carts.
  • Operation, inspection and minor maintenance of all vehicles, equipment and hand tools.
  • Freon removal from household appliances.
  • Household hazardous waste management.
  • General solid waste cleanup as directed at various locations throughout the City.
  • General yard cleanup including snow and ice control, solid waste materials and appliance management using equipment and manual labour.
Administrative Duties
  • Collection and recording of appropriate fees as per the established fee schedules.
  • Conduct necessary surveys and statistics and completion of reports related to user volume.
  • Perform all related record keeping to track inventories of waste carts.
  • Basic bookkeeping.
Other
  • Understand and adhere to City policies, procedures and standards, whether written or implied, as amended from time to time.
  • Contribute to a positive safety culture by acting in a safe manner at all times and complying with City safety policies for staff and contractors.
  • Act as a steward of the Citys Corporate Culture by following the values we live by.
  • Perform other job related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in the area of customer service.
  • Working knowledge of recycling operations.
  • Previous experience in the collection of payments and user fees.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is mandatory. Drivers abstract will be required.
  • Refrigerant removal certification is an asset and will be required. (May be obtained after employment begins.)
