Job Description

LOCATIONBased out of Spruce Grove, AlbertaWORK ENVIRONMENTField based with office/shop work required from time to time, on call work required infrequentlySUMMARYConduct general commissioning, start-up, servicing, upgrade, and aftermarket care of FilterBoXX water and wastewater systems, as well as client owned systems, with an additional focus on Automation, Controls and Electrical components.We are looking for a skilled individual that is excited to be a part of changing how the world views our most critical resource - Water.HERES WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Participate intimately in system wet testing, commissioning, and startup both locally in fabrication facilities and in the field including systematic testing and documentation of process control, equipment calibration, and overall system functionality; facilitate system turnovers to clients
  • Understand and utilize Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), mechanical and electrical schematics, and mark up or red line schematics as required
  • Develop an understanding of the following:
    • Various water process and treatment designs
    • Mechanical and electrical installations
    • Process instrumentation and general system controls
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams including Applications Engineering, Project Management, Automation and Electrical, Drafting, and Document Control. Provide input into product development and system design
  • Perform programming and electrical tasks including but not limited to troubleshooting and updating PLCs and HMIs
    • Convert Control Narratives and Sequence Control Charts into PLC Code
    • Connect to PLCs, upload and download program(s), and prepare program documentation packages
    • Test and debug code both in house and on location
    • Perform on-site programming changes/debugging
    • Develop standard screen blocks for HMIs
  • Perform equipment specific maintenance, modification, and calibration as required on all treatment-based equipment including online analytical systems
  • Identify, plan, and execute projects including but not limited to small repairs and upgrades, maintenance
  • Interpret detailed operational data and provide guidance and direction in the operation and troubleshooting of water treatment systems as necessary
  • Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures and Job Hazard Analysis as required for onsite tasks
  • Act as single point of contact for clients, contractors, and direct reports in relation to overall site works
  • Manage site action logs as required for ongoing item tracking.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:
  • 3-5 years experience in a water and wastewater based technical services / operations team in an industrial setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of water and wastewater treatment equipment and systems including all mechanical, electrical, documentation, and programming aspects
  • Direct experience working in remote workplace, mining, and oilfield locations
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to liaise professionally with coworkers and clients
  • Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask while meeting deadlines Strong understanding of industrial safety requirements and worksite requirements with a proven track record of safety excellence
  • Strong demonstrated understanding of Canadian Environmental Regulation related to water and wastewater treatment and discharge
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE YOULL POSSESS:
  • Post-secondary degree in control systems engineering or a technical / trade school diploma preferred. A combination of less formal education and experience may also be considered
  • Proficiency in all IEC 61131-3 languages
  • Experience with Allen Bradley: Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, CCW, FTView ME / SE
  • Experience with Schneider Electric: Unity Pro, Vijeo Designer, Concept, SoMachine
  • Experience with Simatic Step 7, GE, TIA portal, Red Lion Crimson, Win CC
  • Working knowledge with Wonderware and ArchestrA
  • Familiarity with UL508A
WILL I NEED TO TRAVEL:Yes! Travel to sites currently serviced by the company which will include remote locations. Must hold valid drivers license.Quick Apply
