Internally and externally, we bring a strong willingness to be cooperative and supportive of our clients, employees, and suppliers.WONDERING WHAT YOULL BE RESPONSIBLE FORYour role will require you to bring a high standard of planning and coordination to your daily work. These responsibilities will be in your domain:
  • Write technical reports about water quality and aquatic ecology with reference to provincial and federal standards and guidelines
  • Manipulate large water quality and aquatic ecology datasets in Excel and R
  • Data analysis including plotting, guideline comparisons, and making tables
  • Review data for quality control and quality assurance purposes
  • Interpret results from monitoring programs to support research and effects assessments for freshwater and marine environments
  • Perform statistical analyses of water quality data to detect trends and guideline exceedances
  • Participate in proposal writing, technical report writing, and team meetings
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with your colleagues to maximize work productivity and quality
THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • M.Sc. in a relevant environmental science discipline with 2+ years of technical experience; consulting experience is an asset
  • Experience analyzing and evaluating water quality data
  • Familiarity with British Columbia and federal water quality guidelines for the protection of aquatic life
  • Attained or working towards R.P.Bio., or relevant professional designation
  • Technical knowledge of one or more aspects of aquatic science such as aquatic invertebrates, fisheries biology, ecotoxicology, or sediment chemistry
  • Experience conducting water quality sampling. Experience working with water quality sensors and data logging hardware is an asset.
  • Familiarity with R programming language
  • Effective time management, organizational, communication and inter-personal skills
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adhere to strict deadlines
