Job Description

Title: Park Operator – Alice LakeReports to: Park ManagerSummary of Responsibilities:Park Operators are responsible for providing a safe, clean and well-organized park environment for guests, while fulfilling Sea to Sky Park Services contractual agreements within the Park Use Permit.Duties & Responsibilities:Compliance with all Sea to Sky Park Services policies and proceduresCarry out facility maintenance in accordance with the quality control plan to ensure park facilities are maintained to park standards – ensuring a safe, clean and sanitary environment in all Operating AreasMaintain trailheads which includes raking gravel, sweeping around kiosks, maintaining garbage bins and litter picking around parkland areasCleaning and maintaining campground sites, including picnic tables and fire pitsMaintenance of washroom facilities which includes sweeping and cleaning the facilities and/or outhouses, restocking of supplies and notifying maintenance personnel of any repairs that are requiredThe safe use of all required machinery and equipmentCollection and reporting – to follow proper cash handling and record keeping proceduresOpen designated park gates to the public and close the gates at the end of the dayEnforcing parking complianceEnsure park compliance and security by ensuring parkland areas are patrolled and guests are abiding by the campground and park usage guidelinesMaintain a high level of communication between co-workers and the park managerMaintain a safe and positive work environmentMonitor what’s going on in the park and respond appropriatelyProvide information to park visitors and ensure they have the best experience possibleOther related duties as requiredPark Specific Duties & Responsibilities:Supporting the gatehouse concession as needed during its operating seasonSkills & Abilities:Cash handling experienceAbility to keep organized and detailed records regarding park usage, maintenance requirements, etc.Strong public relations and guest service skills required, must be able to be assertive while maintaining a friendly mannerStrong interpersonal skills to establish good working relationships with managers, supervisors and co-workersPrevious experience working in an outdoor environment and the ability to work in a variety of weather conditionsKnowledge of parks and/or grounds maintenance methods and the ability to safely and effectively operate and maintain a wide range of hand tools, power tools, vehicles and equipmentStrong time management skillsAbility to work well under pressure in a high-volume environmentResourceful and able to work independently in remote locationsKnowledge of the Park Act and the ability to gain voluntary compliance and defuse confrontational situations in an effective mannerMust be able to lift 50lbsMust be able to walk up to 5km per dayStanding up to 8 or more hours per dayPushing and pulling equipment such as lawnmowersJob Requirements/Qualifications:Completed or Enrolled in an undergraduate degree or technical diploma in natural resource management, outdoor recreation or a related field an asset, but not essentialWHMIS / Occupational Safety knowledge or certification an asset, but not essentialValid Occupational First Aid Level 1 (course available through Sea to Sky Parks)Criminal Record CheckÂValid BC Driver™s License & Abstract required (work truck is provided during shift)Terms and ConditionsSeasonal hourly paid positionUniform ProvidedMust be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required “ hours of work will vary throughout the seasonOwn vehicle is required to travel to and from the parkSalary/Wage: $16 - $19 depending on experienceJob Application Process:To apply for this position please submit a resume and cover letter to ckirkham@mtseymour.ca indicating that you are applying for the Park Operator position at Alice Lake - please monitor all your email inboxes in case our response goes to junk mail.For more information on Sea to Sky Parks please visit our website: www.seatoskyparks.com
