Job Description

General Manager of Community ServicesWe are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader who will provide leadership to senior managers within multiple departments at the District of Squamish. The General Manager plays a significant role working closely with the members of the Core Leadership Team to achieve the overall vision of the organization and the community.In this role the portfolio will include working closely with the senior managers of Public Works, Recreation Services, Arts & Culture, Facilities Management and Facilities Planning & Construction, in addition to being the senior liaison with the RCMP management team.What we’re looking for:

  • A strategic leader, who has the ability to think beyond today and set visions and goals and communicate them effectively across an organization.
  • An expert in all aspects of Community Services who is comfortable navigating their way in a local government setting.
  • A business leader who understands how to infuse an entrepreneurial style with the accountability of achieving corporate objectives.
  • An innovative thinker who strives to do better every day, and who has experience leading teams to pursue funding and service delivery options within the portfolio including grant applications, procurement options, and partnerships.
  • A proponent of efficient service, for whom delivering outstanding service is second nature.
  • A champion at working together and relationship building, developing, maintaining and enhancing partnerships and strategic alliances, and obtaining agreement with a diverse group of stakeholders including all senior staff, employees, elected officials, First Nations, other agencies, and the public.
