  • Must be willing and able to work extended shifts as and when needed, in all weather conditions
  • Noisy and dusty environments on all types of terrain
  • Personal Protective Equipment will be required (e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
  • Experience working in a busy job environment will be considered an asset
Responsibilities
  • Conducting concrete compressive strength testing, soils, and aggregates (gradation sieves), soil density testing (Proctor), and other tests as may be required.
  • Conducting field concrete tests and soil compaction tests when necessary
  • Ensuring all testing equipment is well maintained and calibrated as necessary and work area in clean condition at all times
  • Ensuring appropriate testing protocols and standards are adhered to in the execution of all testing.
  • Accurate logging of test samples.
Qualifications and Certifications
  • Good understanding of ASTM, CSA, ACI and other specifications or standards for concrete/soil/aggregates/testing
  • Knowledge in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to handle multi-tasking and maintain focus in a busy workplace
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years related Materials Testing experience
  • CCIL Certified in concrete, aggregates (Q, R Certification)
  • Knowledge of ASTM and CSA testing methods
  • Experience in concrete testing
  • Experience in Aggregate, Soil sampling and Laboratory testing
  • Experience in the use of a nuclear densometer (TDG Certified)
  • Experience in Field Testing (compaction, concrete testing)
  • Excellent communication skills and analytical abilities
  • Ability to lift and control weights up to 50 lbs
