CANADA STUDENT JOBS QUALIFICATIONS: Must be between the ages of 15 -30Squamish Farmers market is searching for a Market program coordinator -20 hrs/wk *Saturdays* 12 weeks - June 18th - September 3rd (possibility of extension) You will work 8 hours on Saturday market with the remaining hours from home doing admin work.About Squamish Farmers Market:SFM is a non-profit society with its roots in the community. We are dedicated to promoting local food and helping farmers, artisans and local small businesses grow. SFM has over 19 years of history of connecting farmers and local craftsmen and artisans with consumers, educating the public about how and where their food is produced and raising awareness about sustainable alternatives to the industrial food system.This position is right for you if you possess the following:

  • Have access to a computer and the internet and can respond to emails in a timely manner
  • You’re punctual, self directed, reliable and responsible
  • You can lift up to 20 kg of equipment and can set up a tent
  • You enjoy being outside in all weather conditions
MARKET DAY RESPONSIBILITIESFacilitate the set up and take down of the market and manage traffic in and out of the parking lot Work with the Farmers Market Manager to train and direct volunteers & assist vendors. Help run the information booth during the market & provide market information to shoppers and vendors. Help run the kids programme, music at the market and Chef demos. Other tasks as directed.ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIESHelp plan and organize events with the market manager. Help plan and create a kids craft, organize a musician for each week, as well as book chefs for the cooking demonstrations.Pick up supplies as needed.
