Job Title: Operating Room Booking/Slating ClerkWork Site: Squamish Hospital - Squamish, BCStatus: Regular Part Time (0.40 FTE)Start Date: As soon as possibleSalary: $25.42 per hourHours:0730-1530Days off: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holidaysReference#: 161284-ekwCome work as an OR Booking/Slating Clerk with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Operating Room Booking/Slating Clerk to support the teams at Squamish Hospital. Apply today to join our team!As an OR Booking/Slating Clerk with VCH you will:

  • Work in a team based environment and play a significant role in ensuring that the overall surgical booking and slating requirements are met.
  • Apply critical thinking and use current knowledge of procedure protocols and computerized systems to schedule and assign the daily procedural bookings.
  • Support your team by:
    • identifying available booking options,
    • preparing and editing preliminary Operating Room slate,
    • completing and distributing final slate to designated areas,
    • as well as compiling, maintaining and distributing designated operative statistical information and surgical waitlists,
    • ordering office supplies,
    • and typing and filing correspondence.
  • Act to support the delivery of patient care and to ensure patients and/or their family have a positive experience with the designated services.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience
  • Grade 12, three years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
