Job Description

Bertha Kennedy Catholic Community SchoolEducational AssistantPart Time (16.25 hours/week) MorningsGreater St. Albert Catholic Schools is located on the original lands of the Cree, those of Treaty 6, and on the homeland of the Métis nation. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates.Position: An Educational Assistant is required in a Division 1 setting, to work with students with challenging behaviours and mild/moderate learning needs.Duties to Commence: November 14, 2022. Qualifications & Duties:

  • Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.
  • Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division’s goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset.
  • Experience with assisting with the implementation of student Individual Program Plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability to work well with a strong, interdisciplinary team.
  • Displays a positive approach to students with social-emotional-behavioral needs.
  • Experience implementing positive, proactive behavioural interventions including competence using specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, reinforcement schedules, teaching problem-solving skills, social stories, etc. and has experience with Positive Behavioral Supports.
  • Supporting the use of Google Apps for Education as well assistive technology devices for communication.
  • Experience modeling and teaching students social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Willingness to lift and toilet students as required.
  • First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
  • Ability to be involved in a wide variety of activities that require some level of physical activity.
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum is preferred.
