Job Description

Glen Avon SchoolA 1.0 FTE Cree Language and Culture Instructor/FNMI Liaison Worker is required for Glen Avon School, located in St. Paul, Alberta, commencing as soon as a suitable candidate is found.Applications will be accepted from applicants with a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate as well as qualified non-certificated personnel.The instructional portion of the assignment will include Cree for Grades 4-9. The successful candidate will also be responsible for promoting the Cree culture within our school and community and to be the liaison between the families and the school.ALL CANDIDATES WILL:

  • understand and communicate effectively in the oral and written Cree language.
  • use traditional Cree ways of knowing to create educational resources for learners that teaches the Cree language and culture.
  • be enthusiastic, very energetic and student centered.
  • be collaborative and committed to building relationships with students, parents and staff.
