Job Description

Cornerstone Co-op invites applications for the position of Home & Building Supplies Manager to provide leadership to our Lumber, Hardware and Agro team members in St. Paul, Alberta reporting to the Associate Director of Business Operations.What you’ll do:

  • Be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Team Leaders and Team Members in all areas of People, Financial, Market Growth, Sustainability, Operational Excellence & Safety.
  • Through the Team Leaders areas of responsibility this position will lead by example to ensure a highly productive atmosphere exists with the team.
  • Be responsible for communication, planning, organizing, implementation and execution in the business operations.
  • Be motivated to growing the business and committed to providing exceptional customer service
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal & external customers and team members, while administrative requirements of the role are maintained.
  • Engage and interact with member-owners and customers to provide outstanding Co-op experiences
  • Ensure employee development and succession planning is a high priority for the future.
  • Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures, professional standards and applicable laws and regulations.

Why it matters:We need you to lead outstanding Co-op experiences.Who you are as a leader:
  • Experience guiding and supervising a large employee team is required
  • Retail experience in a competitive and complex environment is preferred
  • Experience within the Co-op Retailing System, or in a retail home centre would be an asset
  • Knowledge of and experience with lumber/building materials; hardware and agro products is an asset.
  • Demonstrated initiative and drive for results
  • Skills in the areas of: Strategic planning and executing production as well as implementing continuous improvement / changes to procedures / processes
  • Ability to handle multiple demands – adaptable, organized, efficient and committed
  • Computer skills are required – Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Available to work a retail environment that is open 7 days a week.
