Job Description

Established in 1873, Ganong has the distinction of being Canada’s oldest independent family owned and operated chocolate company. To this day, the company continues to manufacture its famous confections in the town of St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Ganong continues to grow in the fast paced & competitive world of food manufacturing and is currently seeking a Production Supervisor.Position Summary:Reporting to the Plant /Assistant Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor’s role is to supervise personnel while effectively communicating and enforcing safety procedures. The Production Supervisor works to foster a cooperative and collaborative team environment while bridging an understanding of management direction to frontline workers.Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with the Safety Advisor and is responsible for the overall safety of all personnel
  • Supervisors are responsible for promoting a positive Food Safety Culture
  • Monitoring the quality of saleable product, using the correct materials, maintaining properly completed paperwork and ensuring a sanitary working environment by ensuring GMPs are observed by all employees
  • Completes Safety Talks at least once a month or more often if incidents are occurring
  • Ensures that staff are trained in job duties, safety & QA procedures, and company policy
  • Completes annual performance reviews working collaboratively with the HR Team to ensure all documentation is competed in a timely manner
  • Investigate abnormal operating events or equipment failures to determine cause, making adjustments or recommendations as needed to maintain a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ensure proper documentation of operational activities and report them to the Department Manager
  • Planning, scheduling, and monitoring work performed by employees as well as performing routine inspections
  • Ensures teams have requisitioned materials and supplies as needed in a timely manner, communicated priority items, and ensured supplies and materials are returned properly
  • Prepare accurate production reports
  • Verify that pre-op inspections have been completed and recorded properly
  • Ensures teams are completing Inventory Processes accurately
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the overall safety of all personnel working
  • Supervise, coordinate, and monitor people & plant activities to achieve quality & productivity standards
  • Oversee and coordinate the operation of the plant on shift and enforce all company policies
  • Communicate, support, and assist maintenance personnel in achieving timely and efficient maintenance
  • Decision making authority to stop or start productions line based on Research and Development (R&D) standards of product quality
  • Create a collaborative, cross-functional work environment amongst all departments
Qualifications/Asset Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience with a manufacturing execution system
  • Experience in a fast-paced 24-hour operation
  • Post-secondary education is an asset
