Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting in a Long-Term Care Facility bringing support and joy to the people you support Would you like to start a rewarding career in Long Term Care At Valley View Villa, we are looking for a Activities Coordinator to support our Nursing Home Facility.This position serves to assist the Nursing Care team with the coordination of activities related to the care of our residents. This position is responsible for coordination, scheduling, and support of in-house activities, as well as planning and coordinating resident appointments, trips, outings, etc.Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of recreation services
  • Support fundraising events
  • Clerical support in coordination and execution of all resident activities.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
  • Direct programming as necessary to support residents attendance and participation in group activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community outreach and support programs.
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining recreation budget with annual submission to the Administrator, including a detailed review of expense items.
  • Member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee supporting initiatives for the safety of our residents and staff.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Recreation Therapy with certification in the field of Therapeutic Recreation an asset.
  • Current membership with either Nova Scotia Recreation Professionals in Health or Therapeutic Recreation Association Atlantic Canada.
  • Equivalent combination of formal education and work experience may be considered
