JOB SUMMARY:Environmental Service Worker is accountable to the Director of Operations for the purposes of providing and maintaining clean and safe environment throughout the facility. Tasks include but is not limited to scheduled cleaning, emergency cleaning, project work, infection control, equipment sanitation and any other related tasks.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:Must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent schooling.Must be able to communicate effectively in writing to complete reports and written tests.Must have a command of language skills sufficient to read and comprehend pertinent data in all facility manuals.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSMust have demonstrated ability in the basic fundamentals of housekeeping, product safety, infection control and waste management.Must be able to safely utilize and operate products, supplies, tools, equipment and machinery related to the function of environmental services and waste management.Must be able to lift, carry and perform repetitious tasks or motions related to the function of environmental services.Must have a basic knowledge of Fire Safety, Equipment Safety, Product Safety and other safe work practices.Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with all staff and Residents.Must possess good organizational and problem solving skills.Must be selfâ€motivated and display initiative in resolving environmental problems withminimum supervisionMust be physically, emotionally, mentally fit to perform job function. A satisfactorypreâ€employment physical examination by a qualified physician may be required as directed by the Administrator and in keeping with policies.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe cleanliness and tidiness of the facility is a key component within the scope of their assigned duties.Responsible for reporting any present or potential hazards to the safety of the Resident, Staff and/or Visitors.Responsible for the routine and special project cleaning of all aspects of the facility including but not limited to the walls, windows, floors, curtains, tables, chairs, furniture and equipment in residents rooms, dining areas, alcoves, common rooms, utility rooms, tub rooms, washrooms, storage rooms, offices, corridors and entrances.Responsible to ensure that all areas of the facility are well supplied with paper towels, toilet paper, and other products.Responsible to ensure removal of garbage and waste from all areas and depositing it into the proper receptacle.Responsible for other environmental duties as assigned by the Environmental Supervisor, including overall house cleaning.Responsible for reporting all/any malfunctions of the equipment promptly to theJob Type: CasualSchedule:
