Job Description

The RoleThe Fuel Coordinator is responsible for maximizing the practice of efficient fuel purchase and fleet consumption through management of fuel economy. The role is critical in identifying service and cost improvement opportunities and ensuring that the Transportation Management System is updated with the most accurate information. This position is located in our Stellarton, NS office.Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimize fleet cost per gallon (CPG) through efficient fuel and DEF sourcing.
  • Monitor fuel pricing and communicating to Operations and Drivers
  • Build communication channels across departments to better serve fleet fuel efficiency and minimize cost per gallon.
  • Maximize miles per gallon (MPG) performance of fleet operators.
  • Coach drivers and team members on best practices for improving fuel economy and purchasing.
  • Monitor Truck routing and communicate variances
  • Coordinate the complete fuel card process: ordering, canceling, reporting lost or stolen cards, replacements
  • Monitor daily account transactions, identify fraudulent activities, analyze and audit fuel purchases
  • Develop and distribute weekly/monthly fuel reports as required
  • Handle daily administrative responsibilities regarding Comdata and Vendor Fuel Management solutions integrated with Transportation Management System
  • Identify areas for cost efficiency and participate in continuous improvement efforts as required
  • Process and code Fuel invoices
  • Monitor and track actual tractor/trailer fuel purchases versus distance travelled
  • Download fuel purchases and code for accounting processing and IFTA reporting
Job Requirements:
  • Post Secondary Education
  • 1-3 years of Transportation operations experience or related field
  • Superior customer relationship skills,
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in the use of Excel, MS Office, Transportation Management System and BI database tools
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks,
  • Effective negotiating and communication skills,
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable and adaptable to process change
