We are currently looking to fill the position of Meter Reader II, based out of our Stellarton Depot.Accountabilities: As a member of the Meter Services Team, you will be responsible to read and install meters in assigned geographical territories. You will carry out connects, disconnects, transfers, meter changes for residential and commercial applications; investigate billing inquiries, complete meter maintenance, and identify and report suspected power diversion. In addition, you will carry out the reading of meters in accordance with the meter reading schedule in various areas of the region, obtain meter check readings and meter reads associated with customer service orders. You are accountable to communicate with customers in a friendly, professional manner and be able to accurately complete all work assigned in a timely and efficient manner.You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province.You will be required to participate in regulatory training and on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills.You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the Environmental Management System processes and initiatives.This position is considered a safety sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure.Skills, Capabilities and Experience: A Grade XII education or equivalent is required. You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License with a minimum of two years driving experience and provide a driver’s abstract satisfactory to NSPI. You will have excellent interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to express yourself clearly and confidently. You must be able to work with customers in difficult situations and work under pressure while still maintaining a high standard of customer service. Experience with the scheduling software G4,Microsoft applications (Outlook, word and excel ), SharePoint and knowledge of CIS is considered an asset. You will be able to work with minimum supervision, display excellent knowledge of company rules and regulations, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and work in a safe and efficient manner.Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
