DUTIES: This Computer Support Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware, peripherals, video conferencing equipment, cables, and computer networks/software for College Executive and staff located at Bay St. George Campus. This position provides support and advice to users regarding software/hardware technical specifications in order to meet operational requirements; provides audio/video conference support for onsite/offsite presentations, events, and meetings; ensures network connectivity and functionality; designs, implements and supports network architecture including cabling, switches, print servers, security cameras and related software; troubleshoots and performs minor repairs to PC hardware and peripheral equipment; supports remote users and troubleshoots remote devices; configures and maintains user accounts; safeguards computer files against unauthorized access, destruction or disclosure; conducts computer diagnostics in order to investigate and resolve problems; dismantles, disposes and/or relocates equipment; and performs other related duties as required. This position is included in the bargaining unit (NAPE Support Staff).QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must demonstrate knowledge in the field of information technology including computer operating systems, network configuration, hardware and related equipment.Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot and efficiently resolve issues under tight deadlines is essential in this role. The ability to effectively communicate with end users including College executive and staff as well as other members of the information technology team is required. A strong client-service orientation and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision and direction is necessary. The ability to establish trust and maintain a high level of confidentiality for all activities/tasks is essential. Candidates must also be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals across the College. The required knowledge and skills would are acquired through the completion of a two (2) year Diploma in Information Technology, or computer-related field, combined with relevant experience in a highly technical environment that involves troubleshooting and providing technical support.
