Job Description

Gender-Based Violence Prevention Project Coordinator The Gender-Based Violence Prevention Project Coordinator (GBVPC) will conduct community engagement sessions through an Indigenous lens to identify gender-based violence needs, challenges, and barriers; while identifying Gender-Based Violence Prevention strategies. The GBVPC will be responsible for the development, and implementation of practices.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, engage and build relationships with Indigenous community members and service providers.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with staff and partner on initiatives.
  • Develop a schedule for project activities, resources, equipment and information, and project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
  • Organize and facilitate community engagements and committee meetings to research and identify issues affecting Indigenous women.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports to submit to Funders and the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements.
  • Monitor all budgeted project funds and ensure all financial records are up to date as outlined in the funding agreement.
  • Ensure the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.
  • Write a complete final report showing both expected and unexpected results as required by the funders and by NAWN.
  • Additional tasks as required.
Education, Job Experience and Skills:
  • A post-secondary degree and/or diploma in the area of Political, Social Science (s) or Women’s/Indigenous Study(ies), and/or a minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and analytical skills.
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude and team player.
  • Experience working on trauma-informed projects would be an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities.
  • Proficiency in using computers and programs such as Microsoft Office, SurveyMonkey, Zoom and other platforms.
  • An ability to prepare and interpret schedules and step-by-step action plans.
  • Comfortable with traditional ceremonies and culturally-based projects.
  • A proven track record working with Elders and community members.
  • Clear certificate of conduct.
Working Conditions and Employment Details: This position is located in Stephenville and will start in December 2022 and end date March 31, 2026. The Gender-Based Violence Prevention Project Coordinator will work a standard workweek but must work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones and commitments with NAWN.
