Job Description

This posting is for 1 Temporary, Full-time positionDo you have an interest in a support and technology related position that works with diverse groups to implement changes to processes and systemsDo you have the ability to effectively problem solve and develop solutionsIf you are passionate about helping teams plan for the future by identifying equipment needs and effectively managing current inventory, then the Asset Management Support Specialist position may be for you!Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, you will lead numerous asset management support activities including data collection, data entry, asset registry development, work flow design and asset management information system support and training. You will also collaborate with supervisors and front-line asset management database users to ensure asset information is being efficiently and effectively managed to support long-term and evidence-based decision making.Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the asset registry for Recreation, Parks and Culture (RPC) by providing input into the design and interface requirements; assist in the development and maintenance of the RPC asset hierarchy within the asset information system
  • Maintain asset data in the asset management platform that adheres to corporate standards
  • Monitor system components and identify processes and system processes, research issues and recommend or initiate process changes
  • Listen and understand the needs and business requirements each work unit has to ensure solutions are developed to improve overall work flow and information sharing
  • Assist work groups by using technology to support their asset management activities and the development of long-term RPC equipment replacement plans
  • Develop and deliver training programs for new and active asset management platform users
  • Provide first-line support to users and troubleshoot procedural or system problems and act as the key contact with the asset management software provider
  • Actively participate on the RPC Equipment Priority Committee and work with other members to develop long-term RPC equipment replacement plans
  • Assist in the asset platform related planning and documentation process for department projects such as major lifecycle replacement activities or aquatic/arena shutdowns
  • Assist workgroups by using the asset platform technology to support the completion, review and approval process for workplace inspections and tracking of all related documentation
Skills and Abilities
  • Aptitude to understand and learn a wide range of equipment life cycles
  • Critical, analytical and systems thinking skills along with the ability to create functional asset hierarchies and develop solutions to complex work flow issues
  • Ability to manage and organize large quantities of data and utilize it for performance reporting functions
  • Effective communication, presentation, training and facilitation skills
  • Ability to effectively lead change, including develop strategies to increase acceptance to change and ensure changes are sustainable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across the organization
  • Effective prioritization and organizational skills
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary training /certificate with 5 years of related experience
  • Certificate or formal training in asset management or maintenance management is an asset
  • 1 year experience working with Asset Information Systems is preferred
  • Familiarity and understanding of basic asset management practices and the asset lifecycle
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and the use of personal vehicle to travel between facilities
