Job Description

If you are a passionate Talent Acquisition Professional, thrives on building and maintaining relationships, likes variety and a fast pace, and want to use your broad-based HR knowledge to support the business, then this is the opportunity for you!As a Talent Acquisition Advisor with Strathcona County’s Human Resources team you will work closely with business leaders to provide a full range of talent acquisition services required by the business. This includes partnering with business leaders to understand and execute talent acquisition goals, implement and deliver talent acquisition programs, manage the ongoing recruitment and selection needs, identify and resolve complex staffing scenarios and contribute to talent acquisition projects and initiatives.This role provides functional leadership to the talent acquisition team on interpretation of guidelines, policies and processes, talent acquisition program development and the implementation and adoption of talent acquisition best practice.Responsibilities

  • Support talent identification, assessment, and acquisition through wholistic and full cycle recruitment and act as an ambassador for the organization
  • Manage more complex, unionized and/or contentious recruitment and activities around talent acquisition and guide and support Specialists
  • Influence decisions around talent identification and acquisition by incorporating and applying internal policies and practices including staffing guideline, people plan areas of focus, inclusive hiring policy and role-related competencies as well as analyze and advise on overall fit of candidates in the organization as well as the position
  • Consult, guide, coach and advise leaders on policies guidelines and programs related to talent acquisition including staffing guidelines, salary administration, Classified Employee Handbook and applicable collective agreements interpretation
  • Coach and advise hiring managers on interviewing and assessment techniques, candidate selection, interpretation of assessments and provide recommendations on offers
  • Collaborates with Organizational Effectiveness and Human Resources Business Partner branches on more complex staffing situations
  • Develop and provide interviewing/assessment training as needed based on the business needs of portfolio
  • Provide coaching and advice to employees around career progression opportunities, resume writing and interview skill
  • Leads project planning and project management activities for various talent acquisition programs, including Firefighter recruitment program, seasonal hiring program, campus/new graduate program, Canada job grant initiative, yearly staffing increase requests etc.
  • Supports Supervisor and provides informal professional leadership to the team through coaching and advice on more complex scenarios, best practices or approaches in working with business leaders
  • Identifies, researches, gains buy in, develops and presents recommendations and implements solutions for improvement opportunities in staffing processes, sourcing practices, recruitment marketing initiative, tools/techniques etc.

  • Ability to conduct and enable fair, respectful and defensible processes and decision making
  • Ability to anticipate and identify issues that may arise from the situation and come up with appropriate solutions
  • Lead and provide direction in situations without formal authority over others
Qualifications
  • A related degree or diploma in Business or Human Resource Management with a minimum of 5 years of experience with recruitment or talent acquisition
  • Knowledge of Human Resource legislation, policy and procedure
  • Proficiency with Oracle, Excel and SharePoint is an asset
