Job Description

This posting is for 1 Permanent, Full-time position and 1 Temporary, Full-time position for up to 1 yearAs a Talent Acquisition Specialist with Strathcona County’s Human Resources team, you will work closely with business leaders to provide a full range of talent acquisition services required by the business. This includes partnering with business leaders to understand and execute their talent acquisition goals, managing the ongoing recruitment and selection needs, identifying and resolving complex staffing scenarios and contributing to talent acquisition projects and initiatives.   • Support talent identification, assessment, and acquisition through wholistic and full cycle recruitment and act as an ambassador for the organization
  • Manage more complex, unionized and/or contentious recruitment and activities around talent acquisition and guide and support hourly Specialists in less complex or repetitive recruitment processes
  • Influence decisions around talent acquisition and apply overarching Talent Development principles in accordance with our HR Staffing Guidelines and applicable collective agreements
  • Provide consultation and advice to department managers, supervisors and employees on policy and guidelines related to talent acquisition
  • Provide project management of recruitment initiatives
  • Provide coaching and advice to employees around career progression opportunities, resume writing and interview skills
  • Work closely with Human Resources Business Partnering and Organizational Effectiveness Branches
Skills and Abilities
  • Proven capability of managing concurrent multiple priorities involving sometimes multiple stakeholders with a consistent track record of delivering on-time, high quality results
  • Strategic thinker with strong consultative and facilitation skills
  • Ability to take initiative and think through problems creatively
  • Strong process management, along with communication, customer service and relationship building skills to quickly establish trust, credibility and effectively manage others through influence
  • Strong ability to use communication and interpersonal skills to approach difficult conversations with hiring managers and/or candidates
  • Ability to conduct and enable fair, respectful and defensible processes and decision making
  • Knowledge of Human Resource legislation, policy and procedure
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field (degree preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of directly related Talent Acquisition experience, with demonstrated experience providing consultative HR advice and guidance
  • Experience interpreting and providing guidance on employment terms and conditions, collective agreements, HR policies and guidelines
  • Experience in a unionized environment, including the ability to interpret and apply collective agreement terms
  • Experience managing various types of recruitment including high volume, professional/technical, administrative etc.
  • Sound knowledge of candidate selection, behavioural interviewing, candidate sourcing and talent acquisition best practices
  • Strong business acumen, the ability to understand and interpret information from business leaders and apply to talent acquisition strategies
  • Strong critical thinking skills, can understand, identify and think through the implications and impacts of decisions within complex situations
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and experience with utilizing applicant tracking systems
