Job Title:Primary Care - Addiction PhysicianWork Site:Downtown Eastside Connections Clinic – 429 Alexander StStatus:Temporary Part Time (0.2-0.6 FTE, 2-6 sessions/week) Start Date:To be mutually agreed uponCompensation Type:Alternative Payment ArrangementCome work as a Primary Care - Addiction Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a number of primary care-addiction physicians to provide seven-day/week (14 total sessions) coverage for the new Downtown Eastside Connections Addiction Team in the Downtown Eastside. Reporting to the Medical Coordinator for DTES Connections and the Medical Director, Substance Use Services Program, the physician who accepts this position will play a critical role in the supporting the ongoing addiction needs of the patients of Downtown Eastside Connections, and in the development of an inter-professional shared care team.Downtown Eastside Connections is an innovative new service in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and a key component of VCH’s Downtown Eastside Second Generation Strategy. The Connections team will serve as a rapid access, seven-day/week, low-barrier entry point to addiction Opioid Use Disorder assessment and treatment. DTES Connections offers same-day methadone, SROM and suboxone initiation, harm reduction and outpatient opioid withdrawal management, as well as any required primary care (including mental health, HIV/HCV and chronic disease management), until patients have stabilized and can be transitioned to other programs in the community. Patients with poly-substance use disorder which includes opioids will also be seen at the clinic. The physicians will work closely with, and be supported by, an in-house health authority run pharmacy with dedicated pharmacists, as well as a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, counsellors, community-liaison workers and peer support workers.As a Primary Care - Addiction Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:
