Together we are working with Nova Scotians to build a better future through sustainable natural resource management as we all benefit from the natural health and wealth of the province.About Our OpportunityThe Nursery production Worker is responsible for carrying out operational tasks required in the annual production of forest seedlings. Operational targets are determined yearly by the Nursery Superintendent in consultation with industry as well as government partners.Primary AccountabilitiesThe yearly cycle includes seeding, thinning, transplanting, growing, and packaging forest seedlings. These tasks are critical in allowing the Nursery to achieve its production targets and produce high quality forest seedlings.Qualifications and ExperiencePrevious forest nursery or greenhouse experience would be considered an asset. Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations; a valid NS Class 5 Drivers License (or equivalent); a valid First Aid Certificate and WHMIS training are also assets. Knowledge of mechanical and machinery maintenance will be an asset as well as Class 3 drivers licence with air brakes.We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.EquivalencyAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. You must occasionally lift and or/ move more than 50 pounds.There is regular exposure to outdoor weather.
