Job Description

Woods Homes is a non-profit childrens mental health center based in Calgary and we create and provide quality mental health services that promote and restore the well-being of children and families who struggle with problems big and small.Are you a passionate and dedicated individual interested in making a difference in the lives of children, youth and families Are you committed to cultivating an inclusive culture that encourages, supports and celebrates diverse voices at every levelThen we want you to join the Woods Homes team.We are currently seeking contracted House Parent(s) to work within the Wood’s Homes continuum of care supporting youth and families in our Wheatland Program in Strathmore.The Wheatland Program provides a place where youth and families experiencing difficulties can find a therapeutic, supportive environment. The House Parent(s) will play a pivotal role, alongside a staff team, in providing live-in care to children and youth on a long-term basis. The House Parent(s) will work as a part of a therapeutic team, committed to the success of these youth and their families. The start date for this role is contingent on finding a suitable candidate(s). Successful candidate(s) will have an on-going contract with Wood’s Homes.Responsibilities:

  • Move into the home and provide consistent and nurturing parental expectations for the youth in our care
  • Morning routines before school, bedtime routines, prepare family meals, etc.
  • Be a part of the team supporting the youth by attending meetings geared towards planning for successful transitioning
  • Embrace the lifestyle of parenting our youth, along with “extended family” in the form of the staff team
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate(s) will have an understanding of working with children and youth who have experienced trauma.
  • Willingness to provide live-in care in our home.
  • Previous parenting experience is an asset, however personal suitability is important.
  • Quality training and extensive supports are provided to promote the success of youth, their placement in the home and family reunification.
  • Full class 5 license and transportation
