Job Description

In less than a decade, Magnum became one of the leading solutions for primary and remedial cementing services in North America. Now poised to also serve our customers’ soil stabilization, vac and water, and downhole tool needs, Magnum is well-positioned to provide expertise in all the services that we offer.Under the direction of the Vice President, Technical Services and QHSE Officer, the Technical Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring Magnum defined critical processes are followed with a primary objective of achieving operational excellence. This position will ensure quality to critical processes defined by the organization. The Technical QA team will be responsible for development of quality training in all areas within our organization. Processes must meet all applicable internal, regulatory, and third-party standards.This role provides leadership to the Technical Quality Assurance team, which includes Technical Quality Assurance Specialists, Technical Field Specialists, and Training Development Specialists. This team promotes, implements, monitors, and reviews the protective and preventative measures that the company is required and/or chooses to follow. This role also works to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, and injuries. This position works closely with the rest of the Technical Services department on training initiatives and compliance.Job ResponsibilitiesLeadership

  • Provide managerial and technical leadership in overseeing, planning, organizing, and directing activities related to quality assurance, field engineering, training and competency.
  • Monitor and promote compliance to company policies, procedures, legislation, and client requirements. Provide reports as needed.
  • Uphold and enforce Magnum’s mission, vision, and values at all times.
  • Advocate for and follow processes and procedures.
  • Review job performance of direct reports, provide feedback on work techniques and completed projects, and encourage continuous improvement in work undertaken.
  • Mentor, develop, and manage direct reports.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
  • Oversee the follow-up of major occurrences and work with the Quality Assurance and Corporate Services team to ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform all quality management responsibilities for audits, investigations, regulatory document reviews, and SOPs. Ensure quality assurance-related systems are properly implemented, conducted, and documented.
  • Coordinate and perform quality checks/audits to confirm policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Manage and work with team to coordinate supplier/contractor audits.
  • Maintain records of incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
Training and Competency
  • Develop training for all service lines by working closely with subject experts of each area.
  • Collaborate with HR and the Operations department to develop, implement, and ensure compliance to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with HR and the Operations department to develop, implement, and ensure compliance to the competency management system (MAP).
  • Collaborate with Operations Managers to ensure proper deployment of resources to execute high profile work to Magnum’s standard.
  • Coordinate with HR to implement in-house technical training with Managers, subject matter experts, and employees regarding operational job execution.
  • Provide guidance on and support the development and implementation of both hands on and online e-learning operational training programs.
  • Coordinate in-house training (Operations, Transportation, and COR Safety).
General
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Required:
  • Several years of experience with Oilfield Cementing and Class 1 driving.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changing work demands.
  • Experience and ability to lead, motivate, train, and manage employees to meet objectives.
  • Experience developing training for operations, fabrications, etc.
  • An understanding of applicable transportation compliance legislation.
  • An understanding of applicable health, safety, and environment compliance legislation.
  • Able to work overtime and travel.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and the US.

Assets:
  • Degree or Diploma with several years of experience in progressively responsible positions within the oil and gas service sector – specifically cementing services.
  • Strong analytical abilities and ability to analyze data and trends.
  • Prior experience and understanding of the operation of cement pumping and mixing equipment.
