Irving, Limited, Woodlands Division is currently seeking a motivated individual for the role of Field Naturalist.Reporting to the Science Director, the successful candidate will oversee the company #39;s implementation of its award-winning wildlife, ecology and conservation programs. We are looking for a self-motivated leader with a strong sense of initiative and ability to manage and lead change.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage JDI #39;s conservation program, providing direction and alignment to ensure long term success of the program
  • Train and support staff on conservation programs and environmental policies and best practices
  • Develop and participate in ecology and wildlife research projects
  • Work collaboratively with external experts and researchers on ecology and wildlife programs and research
  • Conduct on-the-ground field assessments in support of our conservation programs.
  • Advise company personnel on international forest certification standards and participate in annual third party auditing.
  • Build collaborative relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders (government, ENGO #39;s, researchers, nature groups) across multiple jurisdictions (Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia)
Qualifications:
  • College Diploma or Bachelor of Science or higher with a specialization in Biology or related field.
  • 3-5 years of field experience.
  • A passion for working in the woods.
  • An ability to identify local flora and fauna species.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Bilingualism an asset.
  • Class 5 driver #39;s license.
  • Able to work in both Canada and the United States.
