Job Description

Employment Type: Full Time, 35 hours per weekDuration: 1 Year Fixed TermRemuneration: Level A Academic $88K- $117 K (based on experience) + 17% Super + Annual Leave LoadingLocation: Kensington, Sydney, New South WalesVisa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold unrestricted work rights to be considered for this position.Why Your Role Matters:The Research Associate will join the Population Child Health Clinical Research Group within the School of Clinical Medicine at UNSW to support translational research aimed at enhancing the mental health, wellbeing, and development of children and young people at local, national, and international levels. The role will primarily focus on conducting mixed methods implementation evaluations of youth mental health care models.The Research Associate will contribute to multiple projects, including the Youth Integration Project (YIP), which seeks to improve service integration, access, and outcomes for young people.The position will report to the Head of the Research Group and has no direct reports.Skills and Experience:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., public health, psychology, implementation science, youth mental health, or related fields), or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or professional accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in qualitative research methods, including conducting interviews and focus groups.
  • Demonstrated competency in basic quantitative analysis and interpretation of health-related data.
  • Experience conducting research with young people, families, or mental health service users is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality academic writing and reports.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet project deadlines.
  • Experience preparing ethics applications and grant submissions is desirable.
  • Commitment to research translation and improving outcomes for vulnerable and priority populations.
