Inspired by these core beliefs, is the Employment and Training Coordinator position. Under the supervision of the Education Manager, the Employment and Training Coordinator will work closely with various Takla Nation departments, with colleagues and with industry and business partners. This position develops employment opportunities for Takla Nation members, and supports and guides members seeking employment.Responsibilities: · Develop effective employment services and programs for Takla members and promote an awareness of programs and initiatives with all Takla Nation members, both on and off reserve;· Assist the Administrator, Member Services and Takla’s economic development units, including but not limited to Sasuchan Development Corporation, in developing employment strategies for Takla members;· Work closely with employers to identify their needs and to develop short- and long-term plans in response;· Conduct community information seminars, job fairs, and promotional activities;· Match career opportunities to community members in alignment with Chief and Council strategic plans;· Act as the primary point of contact between the Nation, employers, agencies such as Prince George Nechako Aboriginal Employment & Training Association, training organizations and members, for shorter – term training;· Planning and writing effective proposals and applications for funding to achieve the Nation’s and members training and employment goals;· Ensure all relevant paperwork is coordinated with the finance department, and any other units;· Maintain databases and all relevant client information (Training, Support, Equipment, etc);· Provide clients with occupational and labour market information;· Assist clients in application/ proposal process;· Assist in development of training plans;· Advise TN or special labour market trends;· Provides Individual and/or group career services to Takla Lake First Nation;· Assist with employment and training application/ proposal;· Perform other duties in support of Takla Lake First Nation’s efforts to assist clients;SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: · Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions, and of systemic issues faced by First Nations people;· Completion of relevant post-secondary credential preferred, with a minimum two years’ experience at a similar administrative level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;· Demonstrated positive experience and judgement in planning, negotiating, decision-making, and problem solving;· Proficient in appropriate technological resources including word processing, spreadsheet and database construction and application, e-mail, internet and web-based research;· Excellent interpersonal skills;· Proven ability to gather, analyse, integrate and summarize complex and varied material, and to provide accurate, complete and current information and advice on short notice;· Demonstrated initiative to stay informed about community and organizational changes, initiatives and opportunities;
