Job Description

We are seeking 1 attentive and trustworthy caregivers for in-home care support for a woman with a neurological illness in her 60’s for the Williams family. The caregivers will work in the Williams private house to plan and follow a daily care schedule with the client to provide support and companionship.

  • Full time position - 40 hours per week | 8:00 - 4:30 pm | Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday (off Thursday and Friday)
Tasks
  • Assists client with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and transferring
  • Nutritional support including meal prep, assistance with eating and administration of medication
  • Environmental risk reduction - Cleaning up incontinent episodes or spills, dishes after meals and making bed as well as linen changes.
  • Initiates and participates in activities including planned exercises, art and crafts.
  • Performing basic first aid and emergency care during critical situations
  • Providing emotional support and encouragement to perform necessary tasks.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in health, behavior, and needs
Skills
  • Physical ability lift up to 50 lbs while avoiding potential injury from transferring, repositioning, or lifting client

Certifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of a formal, accredited caregiver training program and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience needed.
  • Minimum 1+ year(s) professional or personal experience supporting individuals with disabilities
  • Reliable transportation and a valid BC driver’s license
  • Criminal Record Check, working with Vulnerable Adults
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $20.00-$24.00 per hourSchedule:
  • 8 hour shift
Education:
  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
Experience:
  • supporting individuals with disabilities: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
  • Health Care Aide Certificate (preferred)
