One of Canada’s most exciting culinary destinations.Tofino Resort + Marina is looking for a motivated Assistant Food and Beverage Manager.1909 Kitchen is a casual fine dining experience featuring simple, fresh, elevated ingredients sourced and foraged from the forests, oceans and beaches of Tofino. A wood-burning pizza oven, with a large selection of seafood and a la carte menu options. The menus are ingredient-driven, with inspirations from coastal regions around the world.The right candidate aspires to mentor the next wave of service professionals in Canada’s next burgeoning foodie scene. They are at home in a leadership role and enjoy passing on the skill of their craft to a young & eager team.Duties and responsibilities:Clearly understand the brand & vision of 1909 Kitchen & Tofino Resort + Marina and communicate clearly with passion & excitement to teamDemonstrate passionate leadership by creating a culture that revolves around experience and enjoyment of food and wineMotivate and mentor a team consisting of seasoned employees and young seasonal crew who are at entry level of their skill setExperienced in conflict resolution and problem-solving skillsStrive for maximum efficiency and continual improvement of staff productivityEnsure that each shift opens and closes in accordance with departmental checklistsMonitor hours and staffing on a daily basis; ensure scheduling is in; forecast and budgeting guidelines.Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for team members.Ensure staff is properly trained on quality and service standards, has the necessary tools and equipment, and is empowered to carry out job dutiesBuild and maintain relationships with guests, team members and managementIn the absence of the Food and Beverage Manager, overseeing the entire operations of 1909 Kitchen and the Hatch Waterfront Pub.Qualifications:Minimum two years’ experience in a high-volume, fast-paced hospitality environmentAbility to demonstrate extreme organization in a fast-paced environment while acting as a team playerWorking knowledge of Squirrel, Optimum Control, Open TableMust possess superior verbal or written communication skillsProficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookValid Serving It Right CertificationMinimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalencyFood and Beverage/Hospitality courses an assetProficient problem-solving abilities with clear & empathetic communication skillsObtaining feedback from visitors and locals on food service qualityResolving guest issues & concerns with empathy & understandingBenefits:Salary based on skillset50% staff discounts at our on-site F&B facilitiesFree gym membership, Tuff Fit propertyAccess to discounted adventure toursExtended Health BenefitsFriends + Family rate on hotel rooms and adventure toursStaff AccommodationIf you’re a service-oriented professional or simply a people person, send your application to: jobs@tofinoresortandmarina.com.Quick Apply
