DEPARTMENT:Protective ServicesCOMPETITION CLOSES:Friday, May 21, 2021 at 4:00pmPosition: The District of Tofino is seeking a qualified individual to fill a second position of Temporary Bylaw Enforcement Officer. Under the general direction of the Manager of Protective Services, this position emphasizes public education and relations offering a unique opportunity to work both as an enforcement officer and community liaison. Work involves providing information and assistance to the public, carrying out regular patrols, gathering evidence and preparing all documentation necessary for effective enforcement of District bylaws.For more information about specific duties and qualifications see the job description summary below.Hours of Work and Salary: This temporary position begins June 1, 2021 and concludes on October 31, 2021 and involves 8 hour shifts, 40 hours per week between 6:00 am to 1:00 am, Monday to Sunday. Based on operational needs, Bylaw Enforcement Officers must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends. The wage is $32.00 per hour plus 14.8% in lieu of vacation time and benefits. This position may be deemed subject to a trial or probation period and subsequent initial hourly wage, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
