We aim to be socially and environmentally conscious by providing very competitive salary structures, by building meaningful careers, while concurrently stewarding the environment.What is this position aboutOur adventure tour guides primary goal is to ensure the safety of our each of our guests while providing memorable and transformative educational experiences on the waters of Clayoquot Sound. Our guides are conservation minded educators, familiar with the local shoreline and its hazards. Candidates should have previous experience safely operating small commercial motor-vessels in variable weather and sea conditions. Guides are expected to have a thorough knowledge of local ecology, indigenous and migratory wildlife common to our region, a grasp of local First Nation’s history, and the ability to share their knowledge passionately with our guests. • Safety of passengers, the vessel, wildlife & the environment: Perform ethical & responsible wildlife viewing practices.
• Deliver master quality interpretive tours adhering to Ocean Outfitters standards, values, and mission.
• Train and mentor junior staff.
• Live Ocean Outfitters values and lead by example.
• Maintain safety equipment, and follow safety practices set by Ocean Outfitters.

Skills, Knowledge, Availability:

• Several years of power-vessel guiding experience in the marine environment - local experience is an asset.
• Experience driving motor-vessels.
• Master interpretive guiding skills.
• Proven safety record over several seasons.
• Ability to problem-solve and maintain considerable poise and composure in various situations.
• Willingness to be an ambassador of our company values.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• A second or third language preferable.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
