Job Description

Eagle Nook Resort is a high end family-owned fishing lodge. Situated on Vancouver Island, we pride ourselves on amazing fishing, staff and scenery. If you love adventures, working hard and the great outdoors, this job is for you!Guest ServicesAs Guest Services, you will be involved in filling the wishes of our guests on a day-to-day basis, as well as any other service to enhance the guest experience. It will be your responsibility to understand what each guest staying at the resort is doing during their stay. You will be provided with the tools and information daily. It will be up to you to interpret and work with all staff in catering to each guest or groups specific needs. We try to have a scheduled timeline of events, but it's important to be flexible. It is critical that we all work together to create the best guest experience from arrival to departure. Your Guest Services duties will cover many different aspects of the guests ongoing needs and wants, these duties will require teamwork with all on duty staff. Your input is valuable but limited to discussion with the resort manager, meaning that should you have concerns or input to help the team, discussions should be had with the Coordinator first.You will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar services; all revenues must be accounted for accurately in Square POS.
  • Greeting and checking in arriving guests; as well as providing a Guest Orientation.
  • Checking out Guests and taking credit card payments.
  • Being aware of inventory (including liquor); relaying that information to Guest Services Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Answering the phone and providing information and taking Proper messages/
  • Issuing and printing fishing licenses and ensuring accurate documentation for/of payment.
  • Provide guests communication devices and monitoring them on their adventures around the lodge.
  • Set up of the dining room and serving stations, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of luggage and provisions.
  • Provide housekeeping; timely and throughout cleaning of rooms and the resort (staff areas included).
  • Making sure all the laundry from housekeeping and the fish shack is constantly done and folded in a timely manner.
  • Assisting the kitchen in preparing, room service, food prep and dishes (general kitchen hand), if needed.
  • Assist guests getting lifejackets, walkie talkies and instruct them in the use of the kayaks, SUP paddleboards and paddleboats.
  • Participate in our regularly scheduled meetings and information sessions.
  • Assist in fire prevention readiness and act should an emergency occur. You will also have shifts working as a Dock Hand, this will include tasks pertaining to the fishing aspect of the resort. Dock Hand duties include but are not limited to:
  • Setting up for morning breakfast, * Vacuum packing fish * Organizing guest catch in our freezers,
  • Greeting guests,
  • Taking guest photos
  • Dock laundry, * Cleaning the dock, tables and chairs,
  • Cleaning the water taxi,
  • Cleaning fish shack, and fish hanging and fish cleaning area.
  • Greeting arriving own boaters at the dock
  • Taking care of own boaters fish and vacuum packing
  • Alerting resort staff of boaters needs
  • Checking moored boat lines
  • Tidying up rain gear in boat house, hanging on proper sized related hangers
  • Preparing fire pit each evening
  • Cleaning the boat house
In addition to your duties outlined above, you will be required to do any other tasks as assigned by the Guest Coordinator and Resort Manager. Remuneration: All shifts are based on either a full day shift, half day or a split shift. If more hours are required for a shift you will be rescheduled accordingly and compensated accordingly. However, the Resort atmosphere is not conducive to a time clock style punch in punch out operation. Certain tasks depending on your day may require extra time to complete. It is expected not to leave work unfinished and passed on to others if they can normally be done during a shift. * Half days are based on one 4 hour shift * 3/4 days are based on one 6 hour shift * Split shifts are base on a 4/4 hour shift or a 2/6 hour shift * Overtime is paid after 8 hours and can be added to any 8 hour or split shif Please expect that you may be asked to work the full 115 days and be compensated accordingly. You will be scheduled for a maximum of 20 full day shifts in a row. If you wish to keep working after those 20 days without any days off you can do so for the normal rate.Accommodation: Room and board is provided as part of your employment. You will be provided with a room shared with 2 people. You are expected to keep your space as neat and tidy as possible. You will also be required to clean up at the end of the season. The room, including the bathroom, will be left as clean as you found it.
