Job Description

The Host at The Pointe Restaurant is often the all important first impression for guests about to embark on an amazing dining experience, and the last point of contact as they leave the restaurant. This pivotal position comes in contact with guests from a variety of demographics with a high level of expectations. The role of the Host is to exceed those expectations each and every time.Please note due to COVID-19 operating regulations/standards some duties may change.Description:

  • Managing restaurant reservations via the Inn's Property Management System, email, and over the phone
  • Floor management including server/table section assignment to ensure a smooth pace of service
  • Welcoming and seating guests
  • Taking and placing room service orders; assisting with delivery when necessary
  • Assisting service team when necessary
  • Inspect dining and serving areas and equipment
  • Various administration tasks including, but not limited to, entering restaurant statistics and maintaining menus
  • Perform quality assurance checks and address guest comments and complaints
  • Ensure efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Chateaux and AAA 4 & 5 Diamond Standards
  • Accept payment from patrons for food and beverages
  • Some duties may change due to COVID-19 regulations/standards
The successful candidate must possess the following:
  • Willingness to learn and be constantly challenged to grow with the restaurant team
  • Previous fine dining or host/hostess experience required
  • General knowledge of food and wine
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs / 11.3 kgs
  • An appreciation for detail and customer service
  • Professionalism and positive attitude in every aspect of the position
  • Consistent punctuality and dedication
  • Ability to maintain all COVID-19 regulations/standards
  • Confident guest service skills and a calm, polite and composed demeanour
  • Previous experience with hotel and restaurant reservations software such as Maestro and Res Diary an asset
  • Valid Serving It Right Certificate
  • Ability to make a commitment of 1 year to the position
