Here’s a bit about Avalon Advanced Materials:Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. is a Canadian mineral development company headquartered in Toronto. We specialize in critical metals and minerals with growing demand in new technology. Avalon has five critical minerals project across Canada, providing investors with exposure to lithium, rare earths, cesium, tantalum, feldspars, tin and indium. We continue to evaluate opportunities to apply new extraction technology to recover rare earths and other metals from acid mine drainage at closed mine sites across North America, remediating outstanding environmental liability. The principles of sustainability are core values of Avalon, and we are a leader among junior miners in adopting best practices to reduce our environmental footprint, prevent water contamination and engage with local communities.Here’s what you will do as a Marketingamp; Communications Associate:The Marketingamp; Communications Associate will make important contributions to our business across several functional areas, supporting the execution of our marketing and advertising initiatives. As Marketingamp; Communications Associate, you will create, implement and support the design and delivery of digital campaigns, print collateral and ads, web content and communication plans that increase awareness of Avalon’s brand to drive our business growth. This role will involve collaboration with key stakeholders (internal and external) and subject matter experts to drive content and manage the day-to-day execution of marketing programs across multiple platforms and formats. You will:
  • Support the design and execution of direct marketing campaigns and advertising strategies utilizing a range of marketing tools including email marketing, direct advertising, web content, videos, social media, presentations, events and other avenues as appropriate for our industry;
  • Plan, write and edit materials for all mediums directed at both internal and external audiences, consistent with Avalon’s strategic direction. Materials may include ads, scripts, video and web content, presentations, email marketing, one-pagers, publications, digital media, newsletters, etc.
  • Implement and support the social media strategy, including drafting content, the social media content calendar and follower engagement while tracking and reporting on success;
  • Monitor overall digital and direct mail program performance and ensure consistent and accurate reporting;
  • Manage website maintenance including publishing new content and editing existing content and other miscellaneous tasks;
  • Assist in the planning, organization and coordination of events such as client presentations, webcasts, road shows and other industry events;
  • Create marketing collateral, materials or communications for road shows, events or internal teams to assist them in business development goals and awareness;
  • Research competition by identifying and evaluating advertising and share findings to integrate into an annual strategic marketing strategy that is aligned with overall company direction and goals;
  • Provide research support and assistance, gathering critical information, including monitoring news, policy changes, trends and economic markets. Compile and summarize data and findings (i.e. summary reports, presentations, visual representations of data, etc.);
  • Promote a data-driven approach to marketing activities and opportunities including helping manage databases / spreadsheets of industry and company-specific data and gathering insights from existing data;
  • Manage effective relationships with internal clients and external agencies;
  • Support facilities and office administration (i.e. replenish supplies, business cards, mail, etc.);
  • Special projects as assigned for the overall benefit of Avalon.
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, business or relevant field;
  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role. Interest or experience in the critical metals and minerals and energy sector an asset;
  • Tech savvy, creative digital enthusiast;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe suite or similar design software, email marketing and CRM software and website content management;
  • Knowledge/experience with digital design projects including developing and deploying emails using CRM platforms;
  • Detail oriented with excellent proofreading skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and clarify concerns and concepts to various audiences at all levels of the business;
  • Exemplary collaboration and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships;
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to be resourceful in defining solutions;
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities;
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, trends, and communicate results;
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and easily adaptable to changing priorities;
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends occasionally.
