Full job descriptionSalary range: The salary range for this position is CAD $65.54 - $94.22 / hour Director, Medical ImagingWe are seeking an innovative and collaborative healthcare professional for the Director, Medical Imaging role). The Director will provide strategic oversight for FH imaging services at Surrey Memorial Hospital and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. They will ensure high quality and effective delivery of Medical Imaging, in addition to supporting program services across a multi-site region.The Director will work in partnership with their Medical Imaging Leadership (MIL) counterparts to ensure services are designed in alignment with the evolving needs of the community to enhance our client and family-centred care. This role with play an integral part in developing the long term directions, priorities and strategic vision for their portfolio.Detailed Overview:Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Medical Imaging is a member of the Medical Imaging Leadership (MIL) Team responsible and accountable for the strategies, leadership and management of Medical Imaging services. He/she is also a member of the applicable site leadership team and as such, receives direction and input from the respective FH site senior leadership. Working in close collaboration with the respective FH senior management team members, and the MIL team, he/she provides leadership and strategic direction to ensure high quality and effective delivery of Medical Imaging services needed to support program/service delivery and plans within a multi-site academic, research and client centred environment. He/she is the primary administration link within the applicable region with respect to operations management, utilization and risk management, quality improvement, and human resource management for Medical Imaging.The Director is also the regional lead for designated modalities and will work closely with his/her counterparts on the MIL team to ensure that services are designed in a way which best meets the regional needs of consumers with the aim to improve service delivery for each modality. Works as a member of a team with colleagues and co-workers and in collaboration with key internal and external key partners to achieve excellence in client and family-centred care, education and research, and to influence the development of long term directions, priorities and strategic options to address his/her portfolio issues.Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of effective department-wide policies and strategies that ensure integrated and sustainable Medical Imaging programs and services consistent with FH established priorities, vision, values and strategic direction as well as standards set out by accreditation and other regulatory bodies.
  • Develops effective and efficient communication mechanisms through continual liaison with key partners and builds successful collaboration with management team members to ensure integration of services to support the delivery of high-quality health care, improve patient access, facilitate efficient flow of patients across the care continuum, promote best practices, address issues, and identify improvements to maximize organizational efficiencies.
  • Defines an effective workforce plan for Medical Imaging services for applicable geographic region and/or designated modalities in collaboration with key partners that ensures the ongoing availability of qualified and technically competent staff consistent with FH strategic goals and objectives and within the context of operational demands and environmental and resource constraints.
  • Collaborates in the development of capital and operating budgets for Medical Imaging to complement strategic directions within existing fiscal constraints and uses best utilization methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budget for applicable region and/or designated modalities.
  • Implements effective performance management processes and provides direction, guidance and cross-site leadership to a designated group of unionized staff including those that have supervisory responsibilities within a multi-site environment. Ensures that the culture is one in which individual competencies can thrive.
  • Provides leadership and coordination of quality improvement and patient and staff safety programs. Ensures clarification of roles, adherence to accreditation and practice standards, and compliance with legislation and safety standards to provide a healthy and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Creates an environment of evidence-based practice that encourages participation in research, fosters personal growth and supports opportunities for teaching and education of students and staff.
Qualifications:Bachelor #39;s degree in a relevant health care profession. Seven (7) to ten (10) years #39; recent, related experience in progressively more senior management/leadership roles within a large unionized health care environment including direct supervisory experience of large diagnostic imaging operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Current registration/membership with a recognized professional association.Professional/Technical Capabilities

  • Understands available resources for program/service and keeps quality in the forefront of all resource utilization decisions; provides feedback and detailed analysis on budget variances, and makes recommendations for corrective action.
  • Keeps informed about evolving trends and practices, shares knowledge and supports staff to integrate evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality care/services.
  • Broad knowledge/familiarity of diagnostic imaging procedures, services and techniques for multiple modalities to ensure regulatory, quality, safety and accreditation standards are being met.
