Job Description

We are seeking qualified Early Childhood Educators (ECE) to provide emergency staffing support to nurseries and daycare centres across Toronto. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for early childhood education who are flexible and can respond quickly to staffing needs.Key Responsibilities• Provide high-quality care and supervision for children in nursery or daycare settings.• Support the delivery of age-appropriate learning activities and ensure the safety and well-being of children.• Collaborate with daycare/nursery staff to ensure smooth transitions and consistent care during emergency cover periods.• Creates a stimulating and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, ensuring the safety of children enrolled in the program through direct supervision, and attendance protocols;• Participates and engages in all activities with the children;• Updates, develops and ensures positive, professional communication with parents/families, community partners, outside agencies, co-workers and support staff, an on an ongoing basis;• Supports staff and classrooms as needed (e.g. staff breaks, programming time, etc.);• Ensures classroom environment is kept clean and neat, including all activity and program areas, and common spaces, including toy washing and sanitizing;• Ensures that written records are accurately documented and maintained including attendance records, symptoms of ill health, daily classroom logs, etc.;• Complies with the Child Care Early Years Act• Understands emerging trends, leading practices, industry professional standards;• Nurtures and forms meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnershipsEssential Requirements• Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification: Must be certified to work in Ontario.• Early Childhood Education: Completion of 2 years’ college• Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Check): Required to ensure child safety.• First Aidamp; CPR Certification: Mandatory, with an additional bonus for First Aidamp; CPR (Infant)certification or willingness to obtain at own cost.• Experience: Previous experience in childcare or nursery settings is essential• Checks: Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost;• Medical: Must provide a TB test, proof of Tetanus (within 10 years) and proof of MMR immunizations;Additional• Having a car: Highly advantageous for traveling to different nurseries and daycare centres within Toronto on short notice.CompensationWe offer competitive compensation based on qualifications and experience.
