Job Description

Job DescriptionYou will be an Economist/Senior Economist within the Construction Economics team that sits within our Cost Management business, providing construction cost information and economic trends to business stakeholders. You will work on a variety of Turneramp; Townsend projects and initiatives. These range from the production of the companies’ externally facing economic research documents to client focused, fee earning reports.Key Accountabilities:

  • Production of our Canada Market Intelligence reports. All aspects of delivery undertaken each quarter, including content creation, design support and project management.
  • Support the delivery of Turneramp; Townsend’s annual Global Construction Market Intelligence report. Regional management of data collation, quality assurance and content review.
  • Respond to journalists’ queries, undertake media interviews and create insight articles to help build Turneramp; Townsends’s brand.
  • Regular delivery of presentations and webinars to global key accounts and at external and internal events.
  • Delivery of fee earning work to maintain existing outputs while also generating new opportunities.
  • Facilitate a business support function and provide the Canadian Cost Management division with construction economic information and research.
  • Uphold a database of external and proprietary data, ensuring compliant processes, generating a series of dashboard reports with collated data.
  • Maintain an online library of construction intelligence reports and have good knowledge of where relevant analysis and data can be sourced.
  • Develop and cascade forecasts for key variables that influence Canada’s construction industry and wider economy.
  • Strategically advise leadership teams based on research and model outputs. Communicate findings with market sector leads on sector specific trends.
Desirable skills and experiencePrevious experience or a sound and suitable understanding of the following will be a distinct advantage in applying for this role:
  • Broad knowledge of the construction industry
  • Knowledge of a programming language or willingness to learn; STATA, R, E-Views, SAS or similar statistical platforms
  • Understanding of visual analytics software or willingness to learn; Tableau and Microsoft Power BI are of particular interest
  • Knowledge of econometric techniques: economic impact assessment; cost benefit analysis; and forecasting models are desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain economic concepts and quantitative results, as well as their implications, to non-specialists, in plain English for a business audience
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to work using own initiative and without close supervision.
