Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer in the Robotics Hardware Team, you will help us create advanced robotic systems for our customers. You will work closely with other disciplines (Hardware, Product, Software, ML, AI, etc.) designing electro-mechanical assemblies for our complex robotic systems. You will be asked to serve as a subject matter expert for controls subsystems and own critical components of new robotic systems. You will work closely with our adjacent teams to ensure that your designs can be introduced into a production environment and serve as the foundational system for our advanced AI.What you’ll do:

  • Design systems utilizing automation-grade electrical and electronics equipment.
  • Partner with the software team in selection, integration, and programming of industrial robot software packages and tools.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to deliver advanced design solutions and documentation for troubleshooting and eliminating control system issues.
  • Work in a cross-functional team developing technologies to be used in production
  • Designing PCB prototypes and production, supporting design review for contract manufacturers.
  • Create and document standard operating procedures, keep accurate records and up to date.
What you bring:
  • 3+ years of related industry experience.
  • Knowledge and experience specifying industrial automation hardware, power supplies, sensors, motors, and other electromechanical components.
  • Great understanding of RTOS and Industrial Protocols.
  • Able to create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, layout drawings, wiring diagrams, wire harnesses, and BOMs for electrical panels.
  • Familiarity with machine safety, UL508A, ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012, and NFPA79 (and international equivalents).
  • Competency in creating wiring diagrams in AutoCAD, ePlan or similar.
  • Ability to travel internationally 10% of the time.
Additional qualifications:
  • 5+ years of related industry experience (e.g. electrical, controls, automation).
  • Pneumatic system experience (e.g. valving and instrumentation).
  • Electrical harness creation experience for automotive or automation applications.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded development toolchains (compilers, debuggers, IDEs).
  • Experience in Robot programming and ROS.
  • Experience developing and debugging firmware for real-time systems.
  • Experience with low-level hardware interfacing (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Demonstrated experience in Robotics.
  • Experience in CAD design Solidworks or Altium or Onshape.
How to Stand out (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Engineering experience or related field with 3+ years relevant experience in robotics.
  • 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD electrical / Altium / Eplan.
  • 2+ years of experience designing control systems.
  • Familiarity with 2 or more robot vendors.
  • 1+ years of experience working or troubleshooting or designing Network systems and communication.
  • 1+ years of experience in 3D Modelling experience with CAD software.
  • 1+ years of experience in control system design.
  • 1+ years of experience in creation and design of wiring diagrams, selection of components for north american and international markets.
