Job Description

INTERMEDIATE ESTIMATORAbout Dokainishamp; Company Since 2011 Dokainishamp; Company has been providing world class professional consultancy services.We specialize in working diligently and collaboratively with our clients to achieve long-lasting and impactful results across numerous business functions. Our areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, Project Management, Quantitative Risk Analysis, Organizational Change Management, Project Controls, Enterprise Reporting, Estimating, Asset Management, and System Implementation for Capital Projects. We draw upon decades of project experience to deliver customized solutions to our clients’ most complex challenges. We are a fast-growing organization, currently seeking an Intermediate Estimator to join our consulting team. The Opportunity This position will support a standard and consistent suite of cost-estimating services on behalf of our clients #39; various capital projects. This is a full-time, non-remote, in-office position if you are based in Toronto, Ontario. This role is also open to candidates in other provinces (remote work) - Candidate must be residing in Canada.Responsibilities  amp; Duties

  • Supporting all cost estimating procedures conducive for building estimates that fit within the AACE standards of estimate classifications.
  • Establishmentamp; maintenance of benchmarks and standard norms.
  • Supports the Project Controls team as functional lead for all estimating and change management interfacesamp; deliverables.
  • Implement, develop, maintain and improve procedures, databases, early phase cost models, templates and tools for cost estimating best suited for client needs.
  • Manage the development of cost estimates for projects from concept through execution.
  • Collaborate with cost estimators and other project controls personnel, tasked with delivering cost estimating services.
  • Review and validate cost estimates prepared by internal estimators, contractors, and technical disciplines internal and external to the client organization.
  • Benchmark for validation and target-setting on major projects.
  • Provide input and recommendations for estimating requirements relative to staffing for the full range of estimating activities.
  • Perform cost risk assessment and probabilistic simulations to establish project contingency and project reserve.
  • Develop cost loading for project schedules.
  • Support project procurement activities.
  • Prepare and present project cost reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • For each estimate class, determine (from existing suite of tools and techniques)
  • Appropriate estimating techniques (benchmarking, parametric modelling, detailed estimating, etc.)
  • Appropriate estimating tool (client tools, customized estimating spreadsheets, industry estimating software, benchmarking, etc.)
  • Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.
  • Leading teams, ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities.
  • Actively mentor less- seasoned project controllers and support staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Lead RFP’s – creation / submission / negotiation.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Diploma / Degree – Mechanical / Civil / Electrical Engineering, Project / Construction Management, or relevant experience in an estimating environment.
  • 3+ years estimating experience.
  • Oilamp; Gas, Nuclear, Mining, or Commercial Construction experience a strong asset.
  • Role suitable for candidates with professional experience with Project Management and Accounting.
  • Skills allow for working independently with little supervision or as part of a team.
  • Advanced knowledge of cost estimating methodologies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of project planning / scheduling, construction practices, and project constraints and risks.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present cost estimating projects.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and adapt to flexible work schedules (e.g. outside normal business hours) when required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of contract language / Terms and Conditions / Bonding etc.
  • Knowledge of associated Trades labour agreements / working rules.
  • Good knowledge of organizational accounting / reporting fundamentals.
  • Proficient with– MS Excel and cost estimating / management software.
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written.
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
  • Professional designation an asset (P.Eng., C.E.T., PQS, PMP, or similar).
