Job Description

Job duties:In your role as a Vice President – Engineering, your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Develop and implement the company #39;s technical vision and strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Oversee and lead the engineering function and direct activities in Research, Product Developmentamp; Engineering functions to meet company targets for growth and profitability.
  • Fostering a culture of innovation by encouraging creative problem-solving among team members, leading to significant technological advancements. Established clear performance metrics, fostering increased accountability among team members and driving project success rates.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies, short-term and long-term plans and policies that drive continuous improvement initiatives (enhance product quality, efficiency, costamp; manufacturing process optimization) that align with our overall business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sourcing, Quality assurance and Production, to ensure seamless integration of engineering activities.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of product development (scientific and technical) goals and strategies through an annual Engineering Plan that adheres to engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Develop and manage the engineering department budget and approve expenditures for supplies, materials, facilities, IT telecommunications, travelling, 3rd party fees and human resources to ensure efficiency and that the department has the goods and services needed to perform effectively and meet timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Represent the engineering department in executive meetings and external customer meetings and provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making and business development activities.
  • Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications and explain proposals, and thereafter manage client satisfaction during and after the project to deliver the product and/or service.
  • Manage relationships with key vendorsamp; partners for critical parts to ensure the supply of quality materials and components for evaluation and commercial supplies.
  • Review and provide feedback on technical and financial reports prepared by staff for regulatory agencies and government grant programs.
  • Provide technical guidance and assign, review and delegate tasks and responsibilities to direct reporting engineering staff, and oversee training, professional growth and development.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations on a regular basis to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to complete their job effectively.
Qualifications/Skills Requirements:
  • Completed post-secondary education in a related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering leadership roles with similar commercial refrigeration manufacturing industry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience and knowledge of Plastics part design, metrology and related manufacturing processes.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience and knowledge of 3D CAD software, product lifecycle management, electricals and electronic control systems.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in Research, Product Designamp; development of equipment required for merchandising food and beverages.
  • Possess knowledge of regulations associated with engineering design function and knowledge of regulatory agencies (CSA, NSF, UL).
  • Have the ability to lead a large team (20-22) in a cross functional team environment.
