Job Description

Job Summary:The Controller will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the firm and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.This position requires expertise in Deltek Vantagepoint accounting software and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance to support the growth and success of the organization.Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire finance and accounting function of the architecture design practice.
  • Manage the accounting team, providing leadership, training, and mentoring to finance staff.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and providing insights to senior management.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Deltek Vantagepoint software.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads and project managers to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to track project budgets, expenses, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and enforce internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraudulent activities.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, assisting in decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to improve financial processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Support financial reporting to stakeholders, including owners, investors, and board members.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor #39;s or Master #39;s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with a focus on leadership roles.
  • Prior experience in a similar position within an architecture design practice or professional services firm is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint accounting software is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and auditing procedures.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a finance team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze financial data and trends effectively.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic financial guidance and support to senior management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities to handle complex financial matters.
