Job Description

Job Summary:The Junior Interior Design Technologist will play a vital role in providing technical support to interior designers, assisting in the development and implementation of interior design solutions for healthcare facilities.This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the interior design field within a collaborative and innovative environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with interior designers to assist in translating design concepts into technical drawings.
  • Participate in the preparation of interior design drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details.
  • Support the selection and specification of interior finishes, materials, and furniture suitable for healthcare environments.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other design disciplines to facilitate design integration.
  • Ensure that interior design solutions comply with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Utilize design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite, under the guidance of senior technologists.
  • Assist in conducting site visits to verify construction progress and alignment with design intent.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to source interior design products and materials.
  • Contribute to the preparation of construction documents and detailing for interior design elements.
  • Participate in the review and assessment of shop drawings and submittals related to interior design components.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new interior design technologies, and sustainable practices.
  • Support senior interior design technologists and collaborate effectively with design teams.
  • Undertake training and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma or Bachelor #39;s degree in Interior Design Technology or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in interior design, preferably with exposure to healthcare projects (internship or co-op experience included).
  • Basic proficiency in design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Interest in producing interior design drawings and construction documents.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards applicable to healthcare facilities (knowledge acquired through education or experience).
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude in supporting interior design projects.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with design teams.
  • Enthusiasm for interior design and a passion for contributing to healthcare environments.
  • Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D visualization tools is a plus (optional).
