Job Description

The Care Group (“TCG”) offers high quality residential care services to complex care clients in nice (9) homes throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.THE OPPORTUNITYWe are looking for Director of Care to join our team in LTC Braddan Private Hospital in Vancouver, B.C.!SUMMARY OF POSITION:Director of Care is accountable to a designated community, for directing and mentoring care staff to ensure resident-focused care is achieved, maintaining accountability of the nursing staff to ensure that individualized resident care is appropriate and in place, and promoting departmental activities to maintain high quality resident care. Primary responsibilities include mentoring the staff to ensure the assessment of resident needs, planning and implementation of nursing programs to meet resident needs, and coordination of ongoing education for nursing staff at the facility. An ability to communicate effectively with residents and their families, staff, and others in the community is essential.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have three (3) to five (5) years working in management position with seniors and disabled persons. Experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and current RN - BCCNM registration in the province of British Columbia.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Sound financial management skills and understanding of funding in a residential care setting
  • Ability to plan, direct and control the delivery of multi-faceted care services
  • Extensive knowledge of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act; Residential Care Regulations; Service Provider Manual, including criteria for complex care
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal and team relationships
  • Demonstrates empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors and disabled persons
  • Must be available to travel (80%) and spend extended periods in various communities
