Job Description SummarySTEMCELL is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced mechanical engineer to join our growing Instrumentation team! As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical laboratory automation systems and consumables from initial concept to manufacturing, launch and maintenance throughout the product life cycle. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a creative, multidisciplinary team and deliver innovative solutions for the biotech industry.Job DescriptionDuties and ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical design, development and testing of new laboratory automation systems, sub-systems and consumablesDraw up and review system specifications, risk assessments, and development plansAssist upper level management as a technical specialist on application of advanced concepts, principles, and methodologyEstimate project timelines and resource requirements; identify and resolve roadblocksLead design reviews on areas that affect the product life cycle such as manufacturing, service, regulations, troubleshooting, upgrades, backwards compatibility, competing technology and obsolescenceKnowledge and QualificationsBachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or a Masters degree with 7+ years of relevant experienceStrong mechanical design and testing experience preferably in medical devices or consumablesAdvanced knowledge of mechanical prototyping, fabrication, and finishing techniques for plastics, metals and non-metals, including industry best practicesFamiliarity with injection molding and/or metrologyProject management and planning experience* Submission of past work/design portfolio is encouraged#nonbench #LI-HybridSTEMCELL Technologies is a privately-owned biotechnology company based in Vancouver that helps power leading-edge life science research around the world.
