Job Description

The Agro Summer Student provides agronomic support, service, and knowledge to customers. This position will report to the Senior Sales Agronomist.Basic Job Functions/Essential Duties:

  • Assist with yard operations; preparation and delivery of customer products.
  • Call-on and assist with the develop new potential customers.
  • Provide agronomic information and advice on seed, pest identification, crop protection, and crop nutrient/fertilizer so Co-op customers can make informed decisions based on report findings
  • Manage routine farm customer service responsibilities, including field scouting, agronomic troubleshooting, crop planning, fertility and crop protection recommendations
  • Responsible to maintain knowledge of current industry best practices and trends
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety protocols
  • Assist with achieving/maintaining sales, margins, and inventory targets for existing customers and expand sales to new customers
Requirements:
  • Student in an Agriculture Degree/Diploma or Certificate program from a recognized institution in Agriculture or Agriculture business
  • 2-3 years farming/agriculture related experience
  • An ability to thrive in a high-energy and fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn, work independently, and take initiative
  • Knowledge and experience in crop input and equipment sales
  • Must possess and maintain class 5 driver’s license and have the availability to be on call with ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
This Summer Student will spend approximately 1/2 of the week at our Viking Agro location and the other 1/2 at our Sedgewick Agro location, depending on site requirements.Our Team Members receive competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package, and an employer-contributed pension plan.
